We are located in the southeast quadrant of Calgary in the community of Douglas Glen. Our facility is located off of 114th avenue along 29th street. Our building is red and white and is beside the City of Calgary park and ride lot. The closest landmark is the Deerfoot Inn and Casino. Beverage container deposits are based solely on the size of the container and not the material it is made from. This means that there are two different deposit amounts: beverage containers designed to hold 1L or less equal a 10 cent deposit per container and beverage containers designed to hold over 1L equal a 25 cent deposit per container.
All “ready-to-serve” beverage containers sold in Alberta are part of the recycling system. There are over 130,000 beverage containers registered in the province, including: plastic drink bottles and jugs, aluminum cans, polycoat containers, glass bottles and metal cans. Most electronics we use today are able to be recycled. In general, we accept consumer electronics like TV's, computers, stereos, etc. Please refer to our E-Recycling page for a complete list.

At this time we do not accept kitchen appliances or household appliances.

You receipt has the date and time, the employees name, and the station in which you were served. Please call the manager at 403-203-0666 for a video review of your container count.
Please fill out a Bottle Drive Request Form . Our staff will reach out to you to facilitate your bottle drive.

Our slowest days are midweek and our busy days are weekends.

Our busy times are middle of the day and our slow periods are near opening or closing.

We also offer Quick Drop service where you can skip the line and simply drop off your containers. You will then receive an e-transfer of your deposit. Please register here for Quick Drop.

We are closed on Christmas day and New years day. We are open on all other holidays from 9:30am to 2:00pm.
No. Deposits aren’t charged on concentrate mixes. They are not considered “ready-to-serve” as they need to be mixed with water or another fluid prior to consumption.
Here are some things you can do to prepare for your visit to the Deerfoot Bottle Depot:
  • Ensure your beverage containers are empty
  • Do not crush any aluminum cans or plastic bottles
  • Give the containers a quick rinse, especially milk containers
  • Leave the tabs and labels on
  • If you are able to presort containers by material types such as:
    • Aluminum cans
    • Plastic Bottles
    • Paper Cartons
    • Tetra Packs
    • Glass Bottles in original packaging
  • If not, sorting your containers by under 1 litre and over 1 litre will also speed up the sorting process
Yes, you can squash them flat so they take up less space in your recycling bags or bins, but leave the label on the container so it is still recognizable to Depot staff as a registered milk container.

Yes, if you have more than $100 dollars in deposit refunds, we are able to serve you with scheduled pickups.
